2017 Teen Iron Chef

Big Congratulations to the Garfield High School Culinary Arts' team for winning the 2017 Teen Iron Chef competition! Culinary students, Jazmyne Lyons, Juan Rios and Jose Valdivia, led by Chef Justin Halbert prepared a three-course meal consisting of: Seafood Pozole with calamari, shrimp, clams and mussels; Pan-Roasted Chicken Thigh, Chipotle-Citrus Fingerling Potato Salad with Pickled Vegetables; Chocolate Spiced Pot de Creme with Bananas Brûlée, fresh berries and whipped cream. The secret ingredient was Girl Scout cookies, which they incorporated into their main course and dessert. Six San Diego Unified Schools and a team from the Art Institute competed in this event. This is the 2nd year in a row that Garfield has come out on top!
